Last night, after the game against the New Jersey Devils, we witnessed a rather unusual scene during head coach Martin St-Louis' press conference.

A journalist was persistent with a question about the power play, and let's just say St-Louis responded quite clearly, especially considering the team has won two consecutive games thanks to its literally impeccable defensive play.

Martin St-Louis shuts down a journalist who insisted on getting an answer

Here's an excerpt from the exchange in question:

«Tonight, you had the top line (Slafkovsky, Caufield, and Suzuki) and Matheson, but you didn't create much, especially on the power play. So, are there many takeaways from that?»

- Journalist

«I take away that we killed a lot of penalties on the penalty kill and that we'll work on the power play.»

- Martin St-Louis

«My question was about the power play!»

- Journalist

«Yeah, I know, but we're going to work on the power play. We haven't worked on the power play yet.»

- Martin St-Louis

Let's just say it created a pretty obvious chill in the room.

It happens at the fifteen-minute mark of the press conference below:

Martin kept his cool and didn't lose his patience, but you could still sense that he didn't think it was necessary to press the point so much, especially since he had just answered the question in his own way.

Do you think it was necessary to question Martin St-Louis so intensely about the power play when only two preseason games have been played?

Also, let's not forget that Patrik Laine, Kirby Dach, and Alex Newhook were all unavailable to help boost Martin St-Louis' power play unit.
