It has just been confirmed for Florian Xhekaj and the Canadiens
The Canadiens have just announced the signing of Florian Xhekaj, but there's more for Kent Hughes and the organization.
Not only is Xhekaj fulfilling a dream by signing his first contract with Montreal, but he will also immediately move up to the professional ranks!
"MONTREAL The General Manager of the Montreal Canadiens, Kent Hughes, announced on Tuesday that the team has agreed to terms on a three-season entry-level contract (2024-2025 to 2026-2027) with forward Florian Xhekaj. He has also signed a professional tryout contract allowing him to finish the 2023-2024 season with the Laval Rocket. He will join the team for the trip to Cleveland." - Montreal Canadiens
Wow! Arber's little brother will now be joining the Laval Rocket!
Xhekaj, 19, 6 feet 4 inches and 195 pounds, is a 4th round pick of the Canadiens in 2023. He has collected 65 points in 63 games this season in the OHL, including 34 goals.
It will be really interesting to see if he can add a little spark to JF Houle's squad, in this very important end of the regular season.
Big day for the Xhekaj family today, that's for sure!
Details to follow.
