Jake Allen sends a strong message to GM Doug Armstrong regarding Samuel Montembeault
Jake Allen is an extraordinary person and has always been a big fan of Samuel Montembeault.
Even as Montembeault was "taking over" as the number one goaltender for the Montreal Canadiens, Allen continued to help him progress and did an exceptional job mentoring the hometown goalie.
During Allen's most recent visit to Montreal, as his New Jersey Devils faced the Canadiens earlier this week, number 34 had a message for General Manager Doug Armstrong.
Samuel Montembeault Deserves a Spot as Team Canada's Goalie, Says Jake Allen
We love Allen, and Allen sees great potential for his former teammate Montembeault.
«These may just be preseason games, but I think he has a lot to prove, in a good way. I believe he should be considered for Team Canada, and I think that should be his goal this season.»
Jake Allen, who looks forward to seeing Montembeault prove how good a goaltender he is
Do you, like Allen, believe that Montembeault should be considered by General Manager Doug Armstrong for a spot with Team Canada?
It will be a fascinating storyline to follow in the coming months, with the Four Nations tournament, as well as the upcoming Winter Olympics.
The 27-year-old goalie from Bécancour had a 3.14 GAA and a .903 save percentage last season, playing behind one of the worst teams in the NHL.
He posted an impressive winning record of 16-15-9.
