Jeff Gorton Travels to Finally Meet Ivan Demidov as Canadiens Monitor Their Top KHL Prospect
The Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations for the Montreal Canadiens, Jeff Gorton, recently made an important move for Ivan Demidov.
As reported by Charles-Alexis Brisebois , Jeff Gorton went to meet Ivan Demidov directly in the KHL.
We love it.
This once again shows how much the organization takes good care of its young prospects, and it must be reassuring for Demidov to see this, especially knowing that he isn't being treated fairly at the moment with SKA.
Jeff Gorton announced that he made the trip to meet Ivan Demidov
This was recently confirmed by young Demidov. The meeting did indeed take place, and Gorton was able to make the trip.
"At the end of October, representatives of the Canadiens came to Saint Petersburg. We met and discussed my game."
Ivan Demidov
Let us recall that on October 19, journalist Elliotte Friedman announced that the Canadiens' management had planned a trip to see Ivan Demidov, though he did not know when exactly this trip would take place.
Was it a matter of days? Weeks? Months?
We now have the answer:
Thanks to the excellent work of Daria Tuboltseva, we now know that this trip did indeed take place.
Demidov himself confirmed that Jeff Gorton and Nick Bobrov were present.
"We met and discussed my game.
We keep in touch with the Montreal. I get messages from team representatives after games. It's not after every game I play, but quite often; maybe once every week or two. We discuss various things,» said Demidov
Clearly, the Canadiens' management is beginning to set the stage for the eventual arrival of young Demidov in North America, and they must be eagerly awaiting it, just like the rest of us.
Fans and Canadiens love young forward, flooding his socials with encouragement.
Ivan also admitted that the fans from Montreal also message him on social media:
«Fans do write to me on social media, but they're rarely from Russia, mostly from Montreal. Many people write to me, saying they're waiting for me and are happy that I was chosen in the draft by the Canadiens," Demidov admitted.

Demidov, 19 years old, has amassed 20 points in 33 games this season, which is truly impressive considering his very limited ice time (only a few minutes per game).
Details to follow.
