Journalist predicts surprising linemates for Patrik Laine with the Canadiens to start the season
With the acquisition of Patrik Laine from the Columbus Blue Jackets, some journalists have already started making their predictions for Martin St-Louis' lines.
On that note, Tony Marinaro recently joined the conversation on BPM Radio, and while there are no surprises regarding the first line (Suzuki, Caufield, and Slafkovsky), he did have a surprise for the second line.
Here are his exact words:
"For me, I'd start the season with Josh Anderson playing alongside Laine and Dach. This guy had a bad season last year, everyone knows that. The season before, he scored 21 goals in 69 games. The season before that, he scored 19 goals in 69 games, and we all know that five years ago, he scored 27 goals with the Blue Jackets.
Last season, Josh Anderson was lost on the ice, and he was struggling mentally. You could see it. But this guy is trying to bounce back. If you don't trust him right at the start of the year, maybe you've already lost him."
While most Habs fans would have placed Alex Newhook with Kirby Dach and Patrik Laine, Marinaro is ready to give Josh Anderson a chance to prove himself and believes Martin St-Louis should place confidence in him to start the season.
We remember that last season, the big right-winger only scored 9 goals in 78 games.
