We have an update regarding Montreal Canadiens forward Josh Anderson, and it's really unfortunate.

The idea of Kent Hughes getting rid of Josh Anderson and his contract for free is starting to circulate seriously.

Anderson, who had a very difficult 2023-24 season with 9 goals and 11 assists in 78 games, may have to change addresses soon.

The excellent journalist from The Montreal Gazette, Stu Cowan, just addressed this issue and raised a drastic possibility.

Josh Anderson sent to the minors or traded for free?

After Joel Armia in 2023, could Josh Anderson be surprisingly placed on NHL waivers in 2024?

See what Stu Cowan thinks.

«Martin St-Louis gave Josh Anderson every chance to find his game last season, but the 30-year-old forward sometimes seemed lost. Asked about Anderson's struggles last season, St-Louis said: 'If you give up on yourself, I'll give up on you.'

Martin St-Louis didn't think Anderson had given up, but at some point, the head coach will have to give up on Josh Anderson next season if he continues to struggle and if other forwards perform better than him.

We saw the positive impact that Joel Armia's demotion to the Laval Rocket (AHL) had last season. It wouldn't be surprising to see management do the same with Anderson in 2024-2025.»

So, don't be surprised if Kent Hughes tries to find a new home for Josh Anderson, first to try to revive him in a system that suits him much better, but also to avoid the embarrassment of having to place him on NHL waivers.

This will be a situation to watch over the next few weeks and months, but honestly, all we wish for him is that he can revive his career and find success, whether here or elsewhere, because he truly deserves it.

A team like the Carolina Hurricanes or the Columbus Blue Jackets could be perfect for him.
