Recently present in an interview, Hughes let slip an extremely interesting statement about a trade he will make at the draft, if the best player available is a left-handed defenseman.
Clearly, Hughes has just openly confirmed that he will not draft a left-handed defenseman with his first-round pick.
So, we can forget about the 6-foot-7 giant Anton Silayev, we can forget Sam Dickinson and we can forget Zeev Buium (we can simply forget all left-handed defensemen).
See the statement in question, made during the visit of the Habs' GM to Frank Seravalli's podcast.

With Kaiden Guhle, Lane Hutson, Arber Xhekaj, Jayden Struble, Mike Matheson, and Adam Engstrom, who are all left-handed defensemen, it's a logical reflection.
In any case, the plan is getting clearer ahead of the draft, for Kent Hughes, and it's really an interesting statement.
It's extremely rare to say that so many names can be crossed off the list, more than two months before the selection session.
Be aware that with its 1st round pick (probably 5th or 6th overall), the Montreal Canadiens will be proud to draft: a forward or a right-handed defenseman.
