In recent days, the name of the former general manager of the Canadiens has been in the news quite a bit, following a very interesting interview with journalist Pierre LeBrun, and now, there are indeed further developments.

Let's recall that it was previously reported that Marc Bergevin had refused a new contract before being fired in Montreal.

Well, regarding this famous contract, here is what TVA Sports has just revealed.

Marc Bergevin refused a salary of three million dollars per year, for three years, to remain the GM of the Montreal Canadiens

Here are the details in question:

«Despite everything, Geoff Molson presented Marc Bergevin with a three-year contract extension that, according to what was circulating at the time in the NHL, would have earned him three million dollars per season.

This offer was clearly below Marc Bergevin's expectations, which largely explains why he didn't accept it.

Subsequently, the team had an abysmal start to the season, and Geoff Molson decided to part ways with his general manager.»
