According to renowned Elliotte Friedman, the Calgary Flames are about to call up hometown forward Jakob Pelletier.

Quietly, he has accumulated 19 points in 20 games this season with the Calgary Wranglers in the AHL, and he will therefore clearly have another opportunity in the NHL.

«It seems that Jakob Pelletier has another chance in Calgary.. he was a healthy scratch yesterday for the AHL Wranglers.

He was placed on waivers earlier this year.. 19 points in 20 games in the AHL.» - Elliotte Friedman

A new opportunity for Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens to acquire young Jakob Pelletier

Knowing that Pelletier will be back in the NHL, and knowing that during each stint with the Flames, he has eventually been sent back to the AHL (like Alex Barré-Boulet in recent years), it can be concluded that there is a good chance he will be back on waivers.

This would be a new opportunity for the Canadiens to claim him completely for free.

Will Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton be tempted the next time?

It remains to be seen, but it's definitely a situation to keep in mind.

In any case, we only wish the best of luck to young Pelletier, who certainly has the talent to be an NHL player.

Pelletier, 23 years old and from Quebec, is a 5-foot-11, 180-pound forward.

He is clearly too strong for the American Hockey League, but he has had a lot of difficulty establishing himself in the «big league.»

In his career, Pelletier has 10 points in 37 games with the Calgary Flames, who drafted him in the first round of the 2019 draft (26th overall).

Details to follow.
