Martin St-Louis Calls Out And Challenges Juraj Slafkovsky in Front of Journalists
We witnessed a memorable moment during today's press conference with the head coach of the Montreal Canadiens, Martin St-Louis.
As reported by Félix Forget from DansLesCoulisses, Martin publicly challenged his young forward, Juraj Slafkovsky, today in front of journalists.
St-Louis did something similar with Arber Xhekaj a few weeks ago, and the defenseman responded very well. It will be interesting to see how Slafkovsky responds (on the ice, of course).
The coach's message is clear.. Move your feet, Juraj!
Martin St-Louis challenges Juraj Slafkovsky during press conference
This is definitely a topic that will come up again tonight.
Martin St-Louis decided to challenge his young forward a bit. He needs to move his feet, and he needs to be more direct in how he does it. [] It starts with him, he needs to anticipate the game better and move his feet.
And he said it with a tone that spoke volumes. In fact, the Slovak himself probably agrees with MSL, as he recently admitted that he is not at all happy with his start to the season.
He knows he can give more and that he must give more.
This happened during today's press conference.
Do you like seeing this approach from Marty towards his young players?
Juraj Slafkovsky, 20 years old, has 11 points in 16 games this season, but just one goal.
In his career in the NHL, he has accumulated 71 points in 137 games.
The production is there for the Canadiens' big forward, but everyone within the organization clearly wants to see him more involved..and it starts tonight against the Vegas Golden Knights!
More details to follow.
