After the frightening injury suffered by Montreal Canadiens forward Patrik Laine, head coach Martin St-Louis was asked for an update.

When questioned by reporters, St-Louis couldn't confirm or deny anything at the moment, but he responded that he remains hopeful it isn't too serious.

Injury suffered by Patrik Laine: Martin St-Louis remains hopeful

We must hold onto this hope.

«Let's hope it's not too serious.» - Martin St-Louis, who remains hopeful.

Speaking of hope, let's recall that a doctor has weighed in on the possibility of Patrik Laine's absence:

Dr. Harjas Grewal mentions the possibility of a meniscus tear (1 to 4 months out), the possibility of an ACL tear (season over), but doesn't rule out the possibility of a bone bruise (a few weeks out).

The goal here is not to give false hope, but simply to share the observations of a real doctor.

In short, the head coach of the Canadiens also added this when asked about the need to respond to such an incident (as a team).

«It's important to show other teams that if they want to play like that against us, we'll be able to respond. It's not necessarily about fighting, but showing team spirit.»

- Martin St-Louis

In any case, this definitely throws a huge cold shower on the excitement of Montreal Canadiens fans heading into the 2024-2025 season, which was shaping up to be very interesting.

It will be fascinating to see the resilience of Martin St-Louis' squad.

More details to follow.
