However, I must admit that the moment involving former Canadiens forward Maxim Lapierre struck me the most.
It's so incredibly well said, and it comes from someone who knows exactly what he's talking about, because he was in the shoes of the Canadiens players not so long ago.
Maxim Lapierre sends a clear message to the Montreal Canadiens players
During an appearance on Tony Marinaro's podcast, here's the absolutely iconic message he delivered.
«When I was a player, it frustrated me to hear people complain about certain players' salaries, but today, I realize those people were absolutely right.
There are single mothers, people with families, working 12-hour days and struggling to feed their children.
And then, you have players showing up with fancy suits, fancy cars, making $400,000 every two weeks... [...]
In the end, you're working 20 minutes (as an NHL player).
You work 20 minutes when you show up at the Bell Centre..
Can you at least skate, for ****'s sake? And throw some hits..
I couldn't care less if you're tired on the ice or not in shape.. Can you work, for heaven's sake?
That's it! It's as simple as that! It's a privilege, in life, to be able to go to bed at night without worrying about your finances or your health..
These are just young men making millions of dollars..
