With only an 8.5% chance of getting the first overall pick, it is more likely that Kent Hughes will speak at the 5th spot rather than the first.
Still, many dream that Hughes would go to great lengths to get Celebrini. A fan (Alex Jodoin) suggested, on the X platform, a trade that might interest the San Jose Sharks, who have, with 18.5%, the highest chance of speaking first next June.
Here is his proposal:
Jodoin's question was mainly to see if fans would be ready to sacrifice the two young defenders. The answer, with over 6500 votes, was YES at 60%.
We can also wonder if both clubs would make this trade.
Yes, the Habs would lose two right-handed defensemen, but the opportunity to acquire a player of Celebrini's caliber, especially at this price, is invaluable.
But it would be surprising if Mike Grier accepted this offer. Why would he want to lose one of the best prospects in recent years against three players who have yet to prove anything in the NHL, when we know that Celebrini will have an immediate impact in the league!
It would take a lot more for such a transaction to occur. Maybe with a Kaiden Guhle, who is a left-hander and established in the league, the discussions could progress?
Still, it's good to dream, especially when you know that Celebrini and Lane Hutson have been making waves together in the NCAA. Imagine what that could mean in a few years.
