Montreal Canadiens forward suddenly announces his retirement

A forward from the Montreal Canadiens organization has indeed announced his retirement from hockey, and we're talking about the friendly veteran Gabriel Bourque.

While Habs fans are familiar with him, it's especially the Laval Rocket fans who have gotten to know him better in recent years.

He provided great service to the Canadiens' farm team.

Gabriel Bourque Announces His Retirement

He made this announcement in the last few hours on CIEL FM Rivière-du-Loup, wrapping up his career with a total of 103 points in 413 games in the National Hockey League.

He also added 169 points in 364 career games in the American Hockey League.

He can truly be proud of his journey, which started with the Nashville Predators in 2011. (Bourque was drafted in the 5th round in 2009 by the Tennessee organization.)

Over the last three seasons, he collected 28, 31, and 11 points in 67, 66, and 43 games with the Laval Rocket. He also did a tremendous job with the young players of the organization.

What an athlete and what a great individual he has been for the Tricolore!

A New Job Already for Gabriel Bourque, After a Great Stint with the Laval Rocket

As reported by Alexandre Desrosiers, Bourque is now a coach.

He currently holds an assistant coach position with the Nordiques du Collège Lionel-Groulx. Enjoy your retirement, Gabriel, and best of luck with your new coaching role!
