We have an interesting personnel move that was announced within the Montreal Canadiens organization in the last few minutes.

The Canadiens' AHL affiliate, the Laval Rocket, has just called up 23-year-old goaltender Luke Cavallin.

It's a rather intriguing decision, especially considering that the two goalies in Laval are Connor Hughes and Jakub Dobes, both of whom are having a solid start to the season, so let's hope it's not related to an injury.

The Montreal Canadiens reveal the 5th goaltender in the organization

Another interesting point with this call-up is that it seems to confirm the Canadiens' goaltending hierarchy.

Goaltender #1 - Samuel Montembeault
Goaltender #2 - Cayden Primeau
Goaltender #3 - Jakub Dobes
Goaltender #4 - Connor Hughes

And now it seems to confirm that Cavallin is the #5 goaltender.

This season in Laval, Dobes has a 2-0-0 record, a goals-against average of 2.00, and a save percentage of 0.900.

As for Hughes, he has a 1-1-0 record, a goals-against average of 1.02, and a save percentage of 0.958.

Very solid!

Going back to the freshly recalled goaltender, Luke Cavallin is a goalie we discovered during the most recent Montreal Canadiens training camp.

At 23 years old, Cavallin, a former Toronto Maple Leafs prospect, stands 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighs 196 pounds.

In one game this season with the Trois-Rivières Lions, he allowed 3 goals on 28 shots, taking the loss.

And what about you? What is your prediction for the new goaltending hierarchy within the Montreal Canadiens organization in a few months?

More details to follow.
