He knows it, Martin St-Louis knows it, Kent Hughes knows it, and all the experts know it.
Well, just minutes ago, live from Brossard during this morning's practice, we witnessed an interesting scene.
The Canadiens' head coach really addressed Slafkovsky's situation, and that's a very good thing.
It's excellent to see. St-Louis didn't leave Slafkovsky alone during practice.
They had numerous discussions, and they absolutely seemed to be constructive. Clearly, both want to find a solution.
Check out one of many videos where Martin and Juraj are having a good discussion.
In addition to this, all morning, we saw the head coach repeatedly approach his young Slovak forward to give him instructions and advice.
I love seeing this type of coaching!
Slafkovsky, only 20 years old, has amassed 15 points in 25 games this season, including two goals, and he is clearly not the dominant player he was last winter.
We truly believe MSL and Slaf will eventually find a solution to get him back on track, and when that happens, it will be a major boost for the present and future success of the Montreal Canadiens.
It's rare to see a head coach so "focused on" a young player in such a positive way, and to be so skilled at individually working with a player like this, but it's one of Martin St-Louis' greatest strengths as a coach.
More details to come.
