Montreal Canadiens head coach Martin St-Louis didn't seem to appreciate Arber Xhekaj's actions toward Cédric Paré.

As you know, Patrik Laine was injured early in last night's game, and Arber Xhekaj responded strongly to Cédric Paré.

Xhekaj didn't hesitate to rush the Maple Leafs forward and landed several blows on him.

Following this incident, Xhekaj was ejected from the game.

Martin St-Louis Did Not Seem to Appreciate Arber Xhekaj's Response

Last night, Martin St-Louis found himself with only four defensemen in uniform (due to the injury sustained by David Reinbacher), a situation brought up by RDS journalist François Gagnon.

After the game, when listening to St-Louis's press conference, it became fairly clear that he didn't seem to appreciate the Sheriff's actions.

When asked whether he would need to have a "talk" with Xhekaj, St-Louis simply responded that he would need to seriously think about it today.

«I'll have to think about that...» - Martin St-Louis, wondering what kind of conversation he will have with Xhekaj.

The head coach did, however, clarify a point, as reported by TVA Sports journalist Anthony Martineau.

«It's important to show other teams that if they want to play like that against us, we'll be able to respond.

It's not necessarily about fighting but showing a group mentality.» - Martin St-Louis

In his opinion, players need to respond, but not necessarily by dropping the gloves.
