As you all know, last night during the game between the Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Maple Leafs, forward Patrik Laine got injured.

And unfortunately, it seems to be serious.

Some have gone way too far with their comments directed towards Cédric Paré, who stated that it was not intentional, although we might need to lay the blame directly on the Toronto Maple Leafs organization.

First, for their lack of communication with Cédric Paré before his post-game interview, and second, for their highly questionable tactics.

Were directives given by the Maple Leafs that led to the injuries of Patrik Laine and David Reinbacher?

The excellent journalist Anthony Marcotte, who now covers the activities of the Montreal Canadiens for the BPM Sports network, has made a statement that is, in my opinion, very serious.

«The instruction was clear for the Leafs: hit anything that moved. From the very first shift, Marshall Rifai had only one intention, and that was to hit David Reinbacher hard.

Remember Thursday's game and Pezzetta's hit on Tavares. The Leafs wanted to pay the Canadiens back, but this time without exposing their top players.

I have a feeling the mentality will change with Craig Berube behind the bench.»

This led to what it led to.

There is, of course, the terrible injury sustained by Patrik Laine, but let's not forget about David Reinbacher (the Canadiens' 5th overall pick in 2023), who also seems to be seriously injured.

Reinbacher also left the Bell Centre on crutches, wearing a hinged knee brace on his left knee:

This is very concerning going forward. We will keep you informed of any developments.

Details will follow, but these are two major pieces of the Canadiens' future who were injured yesterday.
