In a press conference, Montreal Canadiens head coach Martin St-Louis delivered an incredible speech about his forward, Patrik Laine.

Clearly emotional following Laine's major injury, St-Louis mentioned that an important first goal had already been achieved with Laine.

Beyond performances and everything that has happened over the past few weeks, there's something that can never be taken away from the Canadiens and Martin St-Louis.

They managed to truly touch Patrik Laine right at his heart, and I think Laine has done the same for the organization.

Patrik Laine has started smiling again while playing hockey

It was very noticeable from the beginning of camp, as Laine was always the first one on the ice to fine-tune his shot, and he was very often the last to leave.

«The first goal with Patty [Laine] was to make sure he was excited to come to the rink, and he really was.

[] So it really hurts, because he was excited to come to the rink»

- Martin St-Louis

You can truly feel the emotion in his voice.

In any case, we continue sending positive vibes to Laine, and we keep believing that he will be a great player for the Montreal Canadiens.

Additionally, the 2-3 month absence is not as bad as some feared, so there's that too!

He's truly determined, and talent is absolutely not a limitation for him-in fact, quite the opposite. It's just a temporary setback, and seeing how quickly Martin St-Louis has embraced him is huge for what's to come.

A first goal has been reached with Patrik Laine, and now we need to work on the next steps (even though he's injured at the moment).
