The Montreal Canadiens organization has just announced several changes.

See the official statement published moments ago by the Habs.

«Montreal Canadiens executive vice president, hockey operations Jeff Gorton announced on Thursday that the team has made numerous changes to the hockey operations department.

To start, Roger Grillo has been hired as coach consultant and will join Martin St-Louis' staff.

Regarding the scouting team, Albie O'Connell has been promoted to Chief North American scout and Tommy Lehman has been promoted to Chief European scout. Additionally, Matt Ryan has been hired as Pro scout.

Lastly, Dale Lablans has been promoted to head of performance, Stéphane Gervais has been hired as strength and conditioning coach, and Mitch Freeburn will replace Gervais in Laval as the Rocket's strength coach.»

We now have our answer.

All indications are that there will not be a new assistant coach hired to replace Alex Burrows this year, but there will be a coaching consultant for the Montreal Canadiens.

Roger Grillo will join the current group, as he knows Martin St-Louis

It will be interesting to see this new dynamic, as Grillo will support Martin St-Louis, though he will not officially hold the title of assistant coach.

This also seems to indicate that none other than Martin St-Louis will take over running the Canadiens' power play for the 2024-2025 season.

Exciting times ahead!

More details to follow.
