In a press conference just moments ago, head coach Martin St-Louis announced changes to his lineup for the game against the Boston Bruins.

He just revealed that young forward Oliver Kapanen will play his first career game in the National Hockey League!

As a result, Emil Heineman will be left out in favor of Kapanen.

Additionally, there will be a change in net, as Samuel Montembeault gets a well-deserved night off, and Cayden Primeau will be in goal tonight in Boston. It will be a good test for the young goaltender.

Kapanen, only 21 years old, is a 6-foot, 180-pound forward. He was the 64th overall pick by the Montreal Canadiens in 2021 (second round) and recorded 34 points in 51 games last season in Finland's top league.

In the playoffs, he scored 14 points in 13 games, and his progress over the past few months has been truly remarkable. We are really excited to see him in action tonight, as he was likely the standout revelation of the Canadiens' 2024 training camp.

Cayden Primeau, aged 24, was a 7th-round pick (199th overall) in 2017. Last season, he posted a record of 8 wins, 9 losses, and 4 overtime losses, with a goals-against average of 2.99 and a save percentage of .910.

If he maintains these numbers, the Montreal Canadiens will clearly have a solid goalie tandem this season, which will be crucial if MSL's squad wants to «be in the mix.»

More details to follow.
