It was probably one of my top three favourite moments from this memorable night for the Tricolore.
That said, we wanted to highlight a small gesture made by Martin St-Louis during that scene this morning.
For those who thought Laine was a problem in the locker room, take another look at these images. It went unnoticed, but it says a lot:
What particularly touched me was the small pat on the back that Martin St-Louis gave the Finn, and you can see in his eyes how happy he was for Laine at that moment.
Look at Martin St-Louis' face during the ovation for Laine. Wow!
Let's remember that Patrik Laine is expected to return to play in two to three months, either at the end of 2024 or the beginning of January 2025, due to a serious knee injury sustained during the preseason games, ironically against the same Toronto Maple Leafs.
Last night's ovation will undoubtedly give him a huge boost of motivation.
I believe this story between Laine and Montreal is likely to last for quite some time, and I'm extremely happy about that. He is one of the most talented players in the entire National Hockey League.
