According to certain sources, ahead of the 2024 NHL Draft, Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens have reportedly made their choice between Ivan Demidov and Cayden Lindstrom.
He's not the only one, but here's what journalist Arpon Basu just reported.
«According to Arpon Basu, the Canadiens' draft team is leaning towards selecting Lindstrom over Demidov if both are available at the 5th pick. If both are available, who would you choose?» - HFTV
That said, it's obviously good to know, but it's also important to note that the meeting the Canadiens' management will have with Demidov before the draft (in Florida) could absolutely change everything.
Cayden Lindstrom would be preferred over Ivan Demidov by the Montreal Canadiens' management for now
A few weeks before the 2024 National Hockey League Draft, numerous pieces of information like this are beginning to circulate.
However, it should be added that it would be extremely surprising to see both Lindstrom AND Demidov available to the Canadiens at the 5th pick.
The most likely scenario is that only one of the two will be left, and Kent Hughes won't have to choose between these two exceptional young talents.
So, stay tuned, but it's clear that discussions are intensifying behind the scenes, following the NHL «Combine» that took place over the past few days live from Buffalo.
Let's also recall that the New Jersey Devils and the Buffalo Sabres have placed their first-round picks on the trade market. Both are perfectly available.
We're talking here about the 10th and 11th overall picks for 2024.
More details to follow.
We highly recommend this article from Arpon Basu titled «My best attempt at untangling the web surrounding the Canadiens and the No. 5 pick in the draft.»
Really interesting and informative.
