When the organization shared a nice photo of Patrik Laine and Nick Suzuki, some sharp observers noticed an interesting detail.
All the names listed in the locker room on the official nameplates are, of course, names of regular players.
We're talking about Nick Suzuki, Juraj Slafkovsky, Cole Caufield, Kirby Dach, David Savard, Alex Newhook, Brendan Gallagher, Kaiden Guhle, and more.
In short, the players who will undoubtedly start the season with the Canadiens.
However, there's an "intruder."
Indeed, there's another forward's name that has been added, and that's Owen Beck.
This could be a clue, it could be a coincidence, but it's certainly an interesting and intriguing fact.
It's worth noting that forward Rafaël Harvey-Pinard underwent surgery following a leg fracture a few weeks ago. The recovery period for the 25-year-old winger is expected to last four months.
Kent Hughes and Martin St-Louis will therefore need to add a forward to their lineup to replace Harvey-Pinard, but it seems that Owen Beck is in an excellent position to earn that spot internally.
At the end of last season, the nameplate clue in the locker room provided the scoop on Logan Mailloux's arrival, so it will be interesting to see if the same thing happens with Owen Beck.
What about you? Do you think Owen Beck would be a good replacement for Rafaël Harvey-Pinard, and do you believe he will start the regular season with the Montreal Canadiens?
Owen Beck, 20 years old, is a 6-foot, 190-pound center. He was the 33rd overall pick by the Canadiens in 2022 (2nd round), and he tallied 81 points in 57 games last season in the OHL.
Details to follow.
