The Montreal Canadiens organization has just placed two players on NHL waivers.

Lucas Condotta and Brandon Gignac have been placed on waivers with the intention of assigning them to the Laval Rocket ahead of the AHL affiliate's training camp, which starts in less than 48 hours.

It should also be noted that in the past few hours, twenty-seven other players have been cut by the Canadiens.

Notably, Owen Beck's name stands out, as he was among the candidates with a chance to surprise.

Among other players sent to Laval Rocket are Filip Mesar, Riley Kidney, William Trudeau, and Xavier Simoneau.

There aren't many players left to cut.

On the other hand, Oliver Kapanen and Logan Mailloux remain at the Canadiens' regular camp and are still in the running for a spot at the start of the season.

As for the players placed on waivers by Kent Hughes, Brandon Gignac is a 26-year-old forward from Quebec, originally from Repentigny, and he was a third-round pick by the New Jersey Devils in 2016.

Last season, he recorded 55 points in 61 games with the Laval Rocket.

Condotta, also 26 years old, is a 6-foot-1, 217-pound forward. He registered 19 points in 65 games with the Rocket and had no points in three games with the Canadiens.
