The Canadiens to hold a press conference shortly: forward Kirby Dach is being rested today
The Montreal Canadiens organization has just announced that forward Kirby Dach is absent today.
He needs to rest and is undergoing a day of treatments, so this will be something to keep an eye on in the coming hours.
The Canadiens will also hold press conferences around 11:30 AM, including one with head coach Martin St-Louis, and we are likely to learn more then about what is troubling Dach.
A Physical Issue for Kirby Dach and a Day of Treatments
Some journalists are indeed referring to a «physical issue» for the Canadiens' second-line center. While it's nothing too concerning, it does lead us to ask the following question:
Is Kirby Dach at 100% since the start of the season?
He has had a slower and more difficult start to the season, which is perfectly understandable under the circumstances, but Martin St-Louis will definitely need him if he hopes to «be in the mix.»
See the official statement.
Likely a minor physical issue for Kirby Dach, who will not participate in the Canadiens' morning practice today in Brossard.
- Anthony Marcotte The Canadiens players are on the ice this morning for their practice session.
Kirby Dach is absent.. it's a treatment day for him.
Kirby Dach, only 23 years old, is a 6-foot-4, 221-pound forward. He was the third overall pick by the Chicago BlackHawks in 2019 (1st round) and has accumulated 100 points in 216 career games in the NHL.
Last season, he collected 2 points in 2 games, and this season, 1 point in 4 games.
Let's not forget that he underwent major surgery last season and hasn't had to endure the rigors of a regular NHL schedule for quite some time.
I imagine he'll find his rhythm relatively soon.
More details to follow.
