They had until 5:00 PM last night to sign prospects Cédrick Guindon, Miguel Tourigny, and Petteri Nurmi.
Now that this deadline has passed and they have not been signed by the Canadiens, these three prospects are now free as a bird. They no longer belong to the Montreal Canadiens organization.
Let us recall that young Jared Davidson was in this same situation, but the Canadiens announced his signing in the past few days.
A two-year contract for Jared Davidson in Montreal.
In the case of young Tourigny, there seemed to be some enthusiasm, so it's quite surprising, but at the same time, he is likely to sign a two-way contract with the Laval Rocket if he does not find a taker elsewhere in the NHL.
He could therefore return to the Montreal Canadiens organization despite everything.
Let us recall that Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton had to keep available contract spaces, as they have a maximum of 50 contracts to grant and 24 draft picks over the next two years.
There will therefore be a significant congestion.
Miguel Tourigny, 22 years old, a 7th-round pick in 2022, scored 38 points in 61 games with the Trois-Rivières Lions this season.
Cédrick Guindon, who is only 20 years old, is the 127th overall pick in 2022. He scored 57 points in 68 games in the OHL this season.
Petteri Nurmi, 22 years old, is also a 7th-round pick in 2022. He concluded the most recent season with two goals and 14 assists (16 points) in 60 games in the SM-liiga in Finland.
We wish them the best of luck in the future.
Files to follow, especially for Miguel Tourigny.
