The Montreal Canadiens welcome back 6-foot-4 rugged defenseman to the organization's camp
Éric Gélinas, a defenseman well-known to hockey fans, is making his return to Quebec after spending several years in Europe and various leagues.
Drafted by the New Jersey Devils in 2009, Gélinas has been invited to participate in the Laval Rocket's training camp. At 33 years old, he has accumulated plenty of experience, having played in the KHL, Sweden, and Switzerland.
Éric Gélinas: A Returnee to the Montreal Canadiens Organization
This is not the first time Gélinas dons the Rocket jersey. In the 2017-2018 season, he amassed 26 points in 64 games, standing out as one of the team's best offensive defensemen. His return could prove valuable, particularly in mentoring young players, especially with the potentially lengthy absence of David Reinbacher.
Surprise at the Rocket camp. Defensemen Éric Gélinas is among the players invited. He played the last two seasons in Switzerland. Gélinas played the Rocket's inaugural season in 2017-2018.

That said, questions remain about his potential impact on the ice. Gélinas has played less in recent years, and his offensive production has declined. Nonetheless, if he can stay in shape and perform well, his experience could be a significant asset for the Rocket, both on the ice and in the locker room.
The training camp will be an opportunity for Gélinas to show that he still has some good hockey to offer, and his presence could stabilize the team, which will need experienced players to support the development of the organization's promising young talents.
