The organization has officially announced that defenseman David Savard and goaltender Samuel Montembeault will not participate in today's practice (treatment day).
In Savard's case, it's not too surprising since he was pulled from the lineup at the very last minute last night (upper body), but it's still a situation to monitor.
In Montembeault's case, it's more concerning and more surprising, but let's admit he has played a significant number of minutes over the past few weeks, partly due to Cayden Primeau's struggles, so he's earned a well-deserved break today.
Let's just hope he isn't dealing with anything serious.
The head coach of the Montreal Canadiens will indeed speak to reporters after today's practice, so we're likely to get updates on Montembeault and Savard at that time.
Savard, 34 years old, has accumulated 5 points in 27 games this season and will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the current campaign.
Montembeault, 28 years old, has a record of 9-12-2 this season, with a goals-against average of 3.01 and a save percentage of 0.901.
He was pulled from last night's game, so he's a case to watch closely.
Samuel is truly a pillar for the Montreal Canadiens right now and is very important to the team's success.
Further details to follow.
