Canadiens Have a Free Chance to Snatch Jacob Trouba After Rangers Reportedly Place Him on Waivers
We have just witnessed a major development in the NHL, with a big decision looming for Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens.
According to several known journalists, New York Rangers' rugged defenseman Jacob Trouba will reportedly land on waivers today!
If it's not a trade for Trouba, believe he may be on waivers later today, possibility that a team will have a claim ready to go as with Goodrow back in June.
Either way, looks like Jacob Trouba's Rangers tenure is over.
- Rangers Journalist Arthur Staples
Wow!
This is significant for the Montreal Canadiens, who, it should be noted, have high priority for claiming players on waivers due to their 30th position in the overall standings (as of today).
If the Chicago Blackhawks and Nashville Predators do not claim Trouba, he will instantly become available for free to the Canadiens.
Given that the Predators lack the financial resources to afford Trouba, this removes a potential obstacle for the Habs.
Jacob Trouba Reportedly Placed on Waivers: A Decision Awaits Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens
If confirmed (obviously), this would send shockwaves through the National Hockey League and would be the biggest waiver-related news in a long time.
New York journalist Larry Brooks has added another layer to the story:
«Breaking. The first players are starting to fall. The Post has learned that Jacob Trouba will not be on the ice today due to roster management reasons.
He will not play tonight.
Expect Victor Mancini to be called up.»
What a piece of news for this Friday!
Jacob Trouba, 30 years old, is a very rugged and tough-to-play-against defenseman. He stands 6 foot 3 tall, weighs 212 pounds, and was the 9th overall pick in 2012 (1st round).
He has recorded 28 points over the past two seasons and is under contract until 2026, earning $8 million per year.
