David Perron's Wife Shares Latest Update on Family Emergency Involving Their Daughter
We have news about forward David Perron and his wonderful family.
We are happy to tell you that it's good news under the circumstances, and, most importantly, this information comes directly from the Perron family, news they willingly shared publicly.
First, let's recall that a few weeks ago (about three weeks), forward David Perron quickly left the Ottawa Senators due to a sad family emergency.
He had to immediately go join his wife after she shared some difficult news regarding the health of their unborn daughter.
We didn't know much more at the time.
Here is the message she shared on her page:
Elizabeth Perron. We decided on her name as we were preparing for a procedure in Toronto. I wanted her to feel real before risking losing her. A few weeks earlier, at 30 weeks, I learned she had a congenital pulmonary airway malformation.
We cut our summer short and moved into a hotel room to begin follow-up and treatment for our little girl while renovations on our new home were ongoing.
Moving our family from one country to another while facing this diagnosis wasn't easy.
During her stay in Toronto, she underwent a procedure to place shunts (drains) in her lungs in utero. We were lucky that most of the mass reduced enough not to endanger her life while I was still pregnant.
I am finally at 37 weeks, a big milestone for our little warrior. It's highly likely she will need open surgery at birth. The risks are significant.
As a mother, it's a nightmare knowing you're about to give birth and what she'll have to endure to have a chance at life. You want to keep her safe inside you, because at least she's still there. I am overwhelmed by this new perspective on life, being the parent of a sick child.
It feels truly surreal. And it's probably one of the hardest things I've ever gone through.
I hadn't talked about it before because it's hard to give updates, and I was trying to stay positive.
We are now facing difficult times for our family, and I'd like to ask for prayers.
Our little Elizabeth will need them. I have hope. She's already so strong.
We have an update today.
David Perron's wife shares an announcement
In the last few hours, David Perron and his wife, Vanessa, announced that the couple has welcomed their little miracle baby.
«Elizabeth Perron. Born October 27 after a long delivery. She's our little miracle and already a fighter. We'll keep you updated on her health at some point, but for now, we'd like to focus on our family.
Please keep praying for our little angel.»
The news is positive for now, but we're still thinking of them and sending them our best.
As you might guess, for the time being, and for obvious reasons, David Perron's season is not his priority.
Let's keep sending a massive wave of support, courage, and positive energy to the Perron family. It's important.
