Known insider reveals the return date of the Quebec Nordiques
Via BPM Sports, a date has finally been set for the return of the Quebec Nordiques, and it would be through expansion. The date is not very far.
In an interview with David Ettedgui conducted by Georges Laraque, it was mentioned that the NHL is indeed working on a timeline for relocating the Arizona Coyotes to Salt Lake City.
It's obviously not a surprise, but there's more.
NHL in Salt Lake City, but also four other expansions coming for Gary Bettman?
The rumor has been circulating for a few weeks, and very solid insider like Pierre LeBrun and Chris Johnston have spoken about it, but Ettedgui goes even further.
He mentions that there will be two new expansions in the short term in the NHL, expansions that would be established in Atlanta and Houston, but that's not all.

"There will be two new expansion teams in the National Hockey League; Atlanta and Houston. Ideally, this would be for the 2026-2027 season." - David Ettedgui
This is where it gets very interesting next for the Quebec Nordiques:
"The good news, if it is one, is that David Ettedgui ends his intervention by saying he is one of those who greatly hope for the return of the Nordiques to Quebec. He asserts that there will be two more expansions by 2029-2030 to make a total of 36 teams, and it would play out between Quebec, Kansas City, and a city in Oregon." - Marqueur
Fans in Quebec could therefore have hope for 2029 or 2030, in 5 or 6 years. To be continued, but the good news is that the Quebec Nordiques continue to be part of the discussions, and not only in Quebec.
