As you probably already know, Michael Andlauer, the owner of the Senators, announced the official holding of preseason games for his team in Quebec City next fall. (including against the Montreal Canadiens)
The Senators will even hold part of their training camp in Quebec City.
However, this is not what sparked the most buzz this morning during this press conference, which had been announced in the last few hours.
The possibility of moving the Ottawa Senators to Quebec City is starting to seriously worry their fans, and it has generated a lot of discussion on social media today, notably because of this picture:
Fans on X were outraged after the Senators shared a photo of mascot Spartacat in a jersey blending Ottawa's and Quebec Nordiques' colors.
Even though I don't believe the Senators will move to Quebec City and become the Nordiques, I admit that this fascination that Michael Andlauer seems to have with the Quebec market is quite interesting.
As the excellent Martin Leclerc mentioned on BPM Sports radio in recent minutes, it's unusual to see that the owner of the Senators wants to play regular season games in Quebec.
This has never been seen before.
The journalist also adds that Mr. Andlauer doesn't seem to be happy with the way his new arena project in Ottawa is progressing.
In short, to better understand this issue, you absolutely must listen to Martin Leclerc's interview on BPM Sports around 4:45 PM.
It seems highly unlikely to see the Senators move to Quebec City, but let's just say it's generating enough buzz right now to become an interview topic.
A story to keep in mind, especially when it comes to the possible regular season games that could eventually be held in Quebec City. (games that would require approval from Geoff Molson and the Montreal Canadiens, according to Leclerc)
