Big statement from goalie Ilya Samsonov about his future in the NHL
Apparently, the wave of changes demanded by the fans is not reflected in the Toronto Maple Leafs' locker room.
Despite another early elimination, and another playoff disappointment, the Leafs players seem determined to stay put.
Following a vague and uncertain statement by Ryan O'Reilly, Auston Matthews has been very clear:
Following this statement by Matthews, his goalie Ilya Samsonov went exactly in the same direction.
He stated that he doesn't see himself anywhere other than Toronto to continue his NHL career. He wants to come back with the Leafs.
Samsonov, 26, who made a name for himself with his frankness and bold statements, had a superb regular season (27 wins, 10 losses, 4 shutouts, an average of 2.33 and an efficiency rate of 0.919).
He easily had his best career season.
However, things got complicated during the playoffs (4 wins, 4 losses, no shutouts, an average of 3.13 and an efficiency rate of 0.898).
