William Nylander traded to the Montreal Canadiens? We've just learned that such a transaction would be unlikely
In his column today on BPM Sports airwaves, Tony Marinaro discussed the William Nylander and Montreal Canadiens situation.
We haven't talked about it much, but there are many observers trying to link Nylander to the Canadiens.
On this matter, see what Marinaro had to say and understand why he doesn't necessarily believe that Nylander will end up in Montreal.
His explanation is very logical.
In short, Marinaro believes it won't happen through a trade because the Leafs won't want to trade Nylander right before their playoff run, and anyway, a team like the Canadiens will never empty their bank of picks and young players for a player who will be a free agent next summer.
So, could it be possible through a Nylander signing by Kent Hughes next summer?
Not necessarily.
"I don't think the Montreal Canadiens are interested in giving 10 million dollars or more (per season) to a winger.
If it were a center player, it would be possible, even if it's more than what Nick Suzuki earns."
- Tony Marinaro It will also depend on where the Canadiens are in their rebuilding process.
We fully agree with Marinaro on these points, so let's wait before linking Nylander to the Habs too seriously.
