Nick Robertson, once seen as a top prospect in Toronto's team, has struggled for consistent ice time under head coach Sheldon Keefe. Nick Robertson, brother of Dallas Stars star Jason Robertson, has officially requested a trade from the team, seeking a fresh start elsewhere.
This request comes from Robertson, who is a Restricted Free Agent, according to a report by Chris Johnston of The Athletic and TSN.
Further complicating Robertson's situation are the talents of Easton Cowan, Fraser Minten, and Nikita Grebenkin, who are all vying for spots on the Leafs' roster. These prospects could potentially surpass Robertson on the depth chart, making his future with the team even more uncertain.
This past season has been one of Robertson's best, coming in with 14 goals and 13 assists across 56 games, a huge step up from his previous performances, where he only managed to score 7 points in 31 games, pretty low.
When Robertson was drafted, he was obviously excited and had higher expectations than what the Leafs could currently offer him, and it's understandable that he wants to go seek out opportunity elsewhere.
