See what Darren Dreger reports.
"The Toronto Maple Leafs are expected to name Auston Matthews as captain on Wednesday. This is part of Matthews' evolution as a leader, and the current Maple Leafs captain, John Tavares, fully supports this change.
Tavares was heavily involved in the process with General Manager Brad Treliving."

Chris Johnston's (TSN) sources have also confirmed the news.
For the occasion, the Maple Leafs organization has indeed called the journalists for an important press conference.
"The Leafs have scheduled a press conference at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, where they will officially unveil Auston Matthews as the 26th captain in the franchise's history."
