Capitals player breaks silence and reveals what Alex Ovechkin really drinks during games
Recently featured on the entertaining podcast "Spittin' Chiclets," Alex Ovechkin's teammate Dylan Strome confirmed a surprising rumor.
This also confirms how exceptional and different Ovechkin is in every sense of the word. For nearly two decades, he has been extremely dominant. He is the top scorer and one of the best players in the world, even though he has never seemed to be the player who takes the best care of his body. It's natural for him.
His teammate Strome talked about it during his interview. He even confirmed a surprising (but hilarious) rumor about the legendary number 8 scorer.
"He drinks Pepsi, or Coke, like it's water. You've seen him drink it on the bench, I know it's come out. He looks at the equipment manager (Brock Myles) and yells 'Brock, Coke' and he opens it and drinks it on the bench, in the middle of the game."
He literally drinks Coke like it's water.
It's not Dylan Strome's revelation of the century here, but to hear it coming from one of his teammates is special and removes any reasonable doubt.
Ovechkin is made differently, his body is made differently, it's incredible. I would absolutely never be able to perform at my highest level while fueling up on soda, but he can. It's an unusual anecdote, but it's certainly something remarkable.
