Tragedy: TJ Oshie has just posted a heartfelt message to announce the sudden passing of his former teammate and close friend, Michael Tveit
In the last few hours, Washington Capitals forward TJ Oshie made an extremely touching and sad announcement.
He publicly revealed that his former teammate and close friend, Michael Tveit, had passed away suddenly.
It happened last Friday, and it was completely unexpected.
Oshie wanted to share his story to promote a good cause and to honor the exceptional person that Michael was.
Longtime Friends
Michael Tveit and Oshie have been friends since they played together at Warroad High School in Minnesota, the beginning of a journey that saw Oshie become one of the greatest players in the history of his state.
Tveit returned to Warroad High School to join the coaching staff before tragically passing away in his sleep on Friday.
Tveit leaves behind a beautiful family consisting of his wife and three sons, as well as a legacy of compassion, competitiveness, and love.
The hockey community in Minnesota is in shock.
The family, with Oshie's help, has created a GoFundMe fundraiser to support them through this difficult time, which you can find here or on Oshie's tweet above: In memory of Michael Tveit.
See his emotional post:
"Absolutely heartbroken to learn that my good friend and high school teammate unexpectedly died yesterday while taking a nap from a migraine. Any donation to his wife and kids pictured below can help them navigate life without Michael moving forward. Love you Tveiter!! Donate here." - Oshie
Our deepest condolences.
