In the hope of finally having a long playoff run, the Toronto Maple Leafs signed Ryan Reaves, one of the best enforcers in the NHL, to add some grit to their lineup.

They've also added Tyler Bertuzzi and Max Domi, known for being good at disturbing the opponents.

Some people think the Leafs will be a top contender now that they have some personality in their locker room. However, former NHLer Sean Avery doesn't seem to think so.

Avery Rips the Leafs Apart

In a recent interview, the 43-year-old forward revealed that even he could make the Leafs roster, and he'd be better than Ryan Reaves.

"I could make the Leafs. I'm probably in the best shape of my life... I would give that dressing room a run for their money. Could I get my timing in 5 weeks to be ready for training camp? No, but if they knew that I was on the team and it was like 'ok, he needs 8 weeks,' then I would be ready, and I would be much more effective than Ryan Reaves."

We're not sure if Avery realizes that the NHL has evolved since he left. Even if he's in the best shape of his life, it's doubtful that he'd be fast enough for today's NHL. Although it can't be that hard to be faster than Ryan Reaves.

He's not wrong about the Leafs. It's probably not enough for them to pass the second round of the playoffs...
