As you know, the Montreal Canadiens have the Florida Panthers' first-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, and therefore, their performance in the current playoffs will have a direct impact on Kent Hughes and his team.

On this matter, a fan has reported a concerning post that's circulating.

"The results of this poll concern me greatly.

I like poking fun at the Leafs just as the next guy, but any team trading up from 29 to 17 would give up at least a high 2nd-rounder.

This many of you would trade the value of a high 2nd for chirping rights? Really?"

It comes from Hadi Kalakeche, and it's true that it's an interesting debate.

By defeating the Maple Leafs, the Panthers' pick (which belongs to the Canadiens) would move from the 17th overall pick to the 29th overall pick.

And if Kent Hughes wanted to move up to the 17th overall pick in the first round, it would cost him a high second-round pick or another similar significant value.

It says a lot that many Canadiens fans would rather see the Leafs lose, even if it means hurting Montreal.

Here are the results of the poll:

53.1% of Montreal fans want the Canadiens to have the 17th overall pick

46.9% of Montreal fans want to see the Leafs lose, even if it means a later first-round pick.

We find the question interesting, so we're throwing it out to you! The 17th overall pick and a Leafs victory, or the 29th overall pick and a Leafs defeat?
