It's been a hot topic for a few days and it's a big story in the English-speaking NHL media, but Bell Media has just released an official statement.
For about a week now, the colorful host Jeff O'Neill has been off the TSN airwaves.
Host of the very popular Overdrive show on TSN 1050, and a television host on TSN for NHL games, Jeff O'Neill (aka ODog) is currently "on leave," according to a Bell Media spokesperson.
This is also reported by Sean Fitzgerald of The Athletic.
O'Neill missed several shows last week, and he was not on the air Monday or Tuesday of this week either.
"He's doing well, that's all I can say," his co-host Bryan Hayes said during yesterday's show. "All we can say is that we appreciate the supportive messages. We appreciate the concerns. We wanted to let you know that ODog is on leave, and that's all we're going to say about it for now. But the show will go on."
O'Neill has been with TSN since 2013. He played 821 NHL games, scoring 237 goals and accumulating 496 points. He played for the Hartford Whalers/Carolina Hurricanes and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
