Another steal accomplished by Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens: a journalist just made a massive statement regarding Lane Hutson
It is no longer a surprise to mention it, but Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens truly pulled off a heist by drafting young Lane Hutson 62nd overall in 2022.
If they were to redo the draft today, he would undoubtedly be a top-10 pick, if not top 5, especially after amassing 48 points, including 15 goals, in 39 NCAA games against older players.
In the last few minutes, a new expert made extremely interesting remarks about Hutson.
And it's not even coming from Montreal!
Journalist Tony Ferrari from the reputable "The Hockey News" just described him as "one of the most exciting prospects in hockey." Quite the statement.
He also added:
"He is the most dynamic prospect in hockey on the blue line, Lane Hutson. He is a highlight-reel machine. He is an elite skater with a cerebral mindset and offensive intuition worthy of a top-tier forward.
Hutson is one of the most exciting prospects in hockey. He should be one of the favorites to win the Hobey Baker Trophy in what will likely be his final year with Boston University in the NCAA."
Ferrari even went as far as comparing Hutson to star defensemen Cale Makar and Quinn Hughes:
"Every week, he embarrasses his opponents. His creativity is on the same level as Cale Makar and Quinn Hughes."
It's promising!
It's worth mentioning that this praise is not even coming from a journalist covering the Montreal Canadiens, which says a lot.
We have to be careful not to put too much pressure on his shoulders, but clearly, the young player is extremely, extremely talented.
He is the kind of draft pick that can change everything for a franchise.
