Canadiens' 5th selection: there is no longer any risk for Matvei Michkov according to Craig Button
As the name of Matvei Michkov continues to captivate all corners of the NHL and Montreal, expert prospects analyst Craig Button has made a bold statement about this generational talent.
Button has done his homework, going as far as to say that there is no longer any risk for an NHL team to draft Michkov. Wow.
"I see no risk in drafting Michkov. The Russians always land in the NHL." - Craig Button
He predicts that Michkov will play in the NHL by the age of 21 at the latest, and that this could be a positive point. He'll still be earning $925,000 per season at the age of 24, just imagine!
Many predict him to garner 90 to 100 points in the NHL. Imagine having a 100-point player costing less than a million dollars. That would be huge! This is precisely the technique that allowed the Chicago Blackhawks to win the Stanley Cup in 2010.
We keep repeating it. We really hope that the Montreal Canadiens will not let a talent like Matvei Michkov slip away. He wants to play in the NHL, it's his dream.
Even a player like Nikita Gusev, who has openly stated throughout his career that he would never play in the NHL and was perfectly happy at home, eventually made the jump to North America.
He simply did not live up to the level of play.
