Major statement from a Montreal Canadiens executive about Will Smith
With Connor Bedard, Adam Fantilli, and Matvei Michkov, one of the names that is attracting a lot of attention for the 2023 NHL Draft is undoubtedly Will Smith.
He flies under the radar, but he's not just good. He is extremely talented, and he should not be overlooked.
Smith would have undoubtedly been the first overall pick in the 2022 Draft (and probably also in 2021 and 2020).
He compares himself to a Jack Hughes. Or should we say, a Nikita Kucherov?
Indeed, in a recent article, notably reported by DansLesCoulisses , we learn the following.
It is well-known that the Canadiens have a good draft pick this year (5th overall), and if Smith happens to be available at the fifth spot, there is a real chance of seeing him join Montreal.
In fact, we can almost take it for granted.
This possibility is strengthened by what we have just learned here.
A Montreal Canadiens scout reportedly recently revealed that he is being compared to a Nikita Kucherov 2.0 within the organization. Wow!
Does Kent Hughes like him enough to make a trade to move up in the top 3 or top 4? To be continued!
