At a press conference in Las Vegas, Montreal Canadiens Vice President of Hockey Operations, Jeff Gorton, made some interesting statements.

Notably, he announced that the final list for the Canadiens is officially 100% set.
"The list is done and it will not change." - Jeff Gorton

This means that, as we speak, the Canadiens have officially finalized their top 5, the executives have made their choice, and they have made a final decision with Ivan Demidov, Anton Silayev, Cayden Lindstrom, Zeev Buium, and company.
At this point, leaks can start to happen, and indeed, here is an interesting one.

Is it between Ivan Demidov and Zeev Buium for the Montreal Canadiens?

Journalist Corey Pronman has just made a strong statement; he correctly predicted the selections of Juraj Slafkovsky, David Reinbacher, and Kaiden Guhle by Montreal in recent years.
He is reliable and has solid contacts.
According to him, here is how it looks for the Habs.
First, if Cayden Lindstrom is available at pick #5, he believes that he will be the choice of Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens.
However, he truly believes that Lindstrom will be the choice of the Columbus Blue Jackets at the 4th spot.
So, knowing that Lindstrom would no longer be available at the 5th pick, it would come down to Zeev Buium and Ivan Demidov for the Montreal Canadiens (according to Pronman).

Corey Pronman predicts that the Montreal Canadiens will pass on Ivan Demidov to draft Zeev Buium

He believes that the Canadiens would really hesitate between Demidov and Buium, but in the end, he thinks Kent Hughes and his colleagues will go for the defenseman.
So, from what we understand, here is what the final list of the Montreal Canadiens would look like (excluding, of course, Macklin Celebrini).
1- Cayden Lindstrom
2 and 3- Zeev Buium and Ivan Demidov
"Montreal snubs Demidov to take Buium? If Corey is right, I can't wait to hear the reactions from Canadiens fans." - Marc Antoine Godin
