We have bad news involving forward Patrik Laine. Just a few minutes into the preseason game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, currently live from the Bell Centre, we witnessed an extremely concerning scene.

A serious injury for Patrik Laine

Laine appeared to have suffered a serious injury.

He seems to be in significant pain. You can see the scene in question right here:

According to information from Darren Dreger, it appears to be a knee injury.

«Patrik Laine was helped off the ice in Montreal. His left knee is clearly injured.»
- Darren Dreger

»Awful seeing that. You feel for Laine. And you also wonder again why so many useless pre-season games are needed in this day and age. I know why, HRR, but the NHL and NHLPA really need to think about reducing pre-season games in next CBA in 2 years
- Pierre Lebrun

We sincerely hope he's OK, but things don't look good for Patrik Laine and the Montreal Canadiens.

It's important to note that Laine is just starting to regain his form, having played only 18 games last season with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Additionally, he barely touched the ice this summer, as he was part of the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program.

What terrible misfortune.. We will definitely keep you updated on Laine's situation, hoping for a small miracle.

Reactions are pouring in from all around the hockey world right now, with many big names posting messages of support for number 92 of the Canadiens.

Arber Xhekaj took matters into his own hands and beat Cedric Pare for injuring Lane.

Video of Xhekaj beating Pare

Arber Xhekaj gets two-minute instigator penalty, five-minute major, a misconduct and a game misconduct after jumping Leafs' Cedric Pare and putting beating on him for knee-on-knee hit that sent Patrik Laine to locker room with what looked like it could be serious injury.
