Last night, while Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers were at the Bell Centre to face the Montreal Canadiens, he was loudly booed by the crowd on numerous occasions.

Habs fans booed McDavid

And clearly, this has sparked reactions from several media outlets.

Notably, the very popular host Ryan Whitney (and former NHL defenseman) went further than others.

"All these moron Canadien fans booing Mcjesus, here's the game winning assist right in your face."

- Ryan Whitney

The host of the world's most popular hockey podcast, Spittin Chiclets, apparently didn't appreciate the treatment McDavid received from the fans at the Bell Centre.

Is it a show of respect, or a lack of respect?

This is the debate currently raging on the web following Ryan Whitney's post, which has been viewed hundreds of thousands of times.

Several Habs fans are throwing one of his previous posts right back at him.

And in your opinion, is it a lack of respect or a show of respect towards the best player in the world?
