If for nearly two years, things have been moving at a snail's pace in the scandal involving the 2018 edition of Team Canada junior, it's now moving very quickly.

There is notably Alex Formenton who has publicly announced that he will turn himself in to the London police, even though he continues to claim his innocence.

Possible prison for players of the 2018 Team Canada junior?

Journalist Rick Westhead has indeed revealed new information.

« Several lawyers specializing in such cases have told me in recent days that they expect former players from the 2018 World Championship to be prosecuted for a very serious charge.

Alex Formenton's lawyer, Daniel Brown, told me today that the former Senators player has not been charged with any of these offenses.

He refused to specify what Formenton has been accused of.

If Formenton is charged with the above-mentioned offense, he faces a maximum of 10 years in prison if found guilty. With a slightly higher degree of accusation (which could be confirmed), we're talking about a maximum sentence of 14 years.

(Toronto lawyer Alison Craig told me it's not uncommon for charges to be enhanced after being brought). »
