Did the New York Rangers give an idea to the Chicago Blackhawks? We have no idea, but here's a very unusual and almost bizarre development regarding the NHL waiver wire.
This is a first in NHL history.
As we reported yesterday, former Montreal Canadien Tyler Pitlick was placed on waivers by the Rangers. (along with Luke Philp)
They were not claimed.
However, here's a good one.
The day after the announcement involving Tyler Pitlick, Rem Pitlick is today also sent to the NHL waivers!
What were the chances of this happening?
Yesterday, Tyler was placed on waivers, and today, it's Rem's turn. Wow.
Rem Pitlick on waivers (Chicago).
R. Pitlick, 26 years old, is a 76th overall pick in 2016. He has accumulated 54 career points in the NHL, including 21 goals in 132 games. (zero in 9 this season with Chicago)
He was acquired by the Montreal Canadiens in 2022 from the Minnesota Wild, via waivers as well.
Tyler Pitlick, 32 years old, is a 31st overall pick in 2010. He has accumulated 109 career points in the NHL, including 56 goals in 420 games. (four in 34 this season in NY)
He was acquired by the Montreal Canadiens in 2022 from the Calgary Flames in the Tyler Toffoli trade.
To be continued!
